Our committees help the Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg stay organized, grow membership, tell our story, and deliver meaningful service in the community. Below is an overview of our standing and Ad Hoc committees and what each one does.
Standing Committees
Standing committees provide ongoing leadership for core club functions. Each committee supports the club’s mission by planning, coordinating, and improving the work we do throughout the year.

Purpose: Maintain and continuously improve the stability, efficiency, and effectiveness of club operations.

Purpose: Promote the club to the public and strengthen brand awareness in the community.
What we do: Share club news and impact using appropriate media and technology—video, photography, print, radio/TV, flyers/posters—and enhance the club’s website and social media presence.
Financial Review Committee
Current Committee Chair: Mark Cox

Purpose: Provide independent oversight through an annual examination of club finances.
What we do: Conduct the annual financial review (as required by club policy), examining items such as bank reconciliations, income and disbursements, budgets, balance sheets, and income and expense statements for both administrative and service accounts.
Ad Hoc Committees (As Needed)
Purpose: Support special projects, initiatives, or emerging needs of the club.
How it works: Under the club bylaws, the President may appoint additional committees (subject to Board approval). Role of Committee Chairs
Committee chairs help ensure each committee has leadership, continuity, and the resources needed to succeed.
- Obtain resources and support needed to accomplish committee objectives.
- Involve committee members in decision-making and task execution.
- Delegate responsibilities and tasks as widely as practical.
- Develop and execute plans to accomplish goals.
- Coordinate with other committees, officers, and work teams when needed.
- Maintain continuity through documentation and knowledge sharing to reduce “single points of failure.”
Note: Committee structures and assignments may change as club needs evolve.
