Kiwanian of the Year
Kiwanian of the Year is our signature annual recognition. It honors a member who has demonstrated exceptional service and leadership during the year—often through hands-on project work, dependable support for club initiatives, and a consistent “yes, I’ll help” attitude.
- How selected: By club leadership and/or a selection committee (per our club’s internal practice).
- Typical criteria: Service impact, leadership, initiative, collaboration, reliability, and representation of Kiwanis values.
- When presented: Typically at an annual meeting, banquet, or year-end event.

The Legion of Honor
The Legion of Honor recognizes long-term commitment and sustained service to the club and community. While the specific qualifications may vary by club tradition, it typically reflects years of dependable involvement and meaningful impact.
- What it recognizes: Longevity, service consistency, and leadership by example.
- How it’s awarded: According to our club’s established tradition and approval process.
- How members can be nominated: By fellow members or leadership (based on club practice).
Legion of Honor Members

We also recognize members who have served in leadership roles beyond our club—especially those selected as Lieutenant Governor (Division leadership) and those who have served in district-level positions across the Capital District.
Lieutenant Governor (Division Leadership)
The Lieutenant Governor is the key leadership role at the division level. Lt. Governors help connect local clubs with district priorities, coordinate division-level collaboration, and support club growth and service excellence.
- Scope: Division leadership (our area within the Capital District).
- Focus: Club support, communication, training, growth, and coordination.
- Selection: Elected/appointed per district processes.
