Call to Order

President Davidson called the meeting to order. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a blessing led by Charlton.

Approval of Previous Minutes

After noting the Call to Order was corrected to read Davidson and not Perry called the meeting to order, the minutes of the September 24, 2026, meeting were submitted for approval.

Program- No program tonight

• Committee Reports and Floor Comments

• Backpacks-Simmons announced they are now packing for 36 kids…He also announced we received an additional $1,200 grant for food for our backpack program.
• Membership drive-Wade announced we will conduct the next drive in a couple of weeks.  He passed around a signup sheet for prospective members.
• Children’s Christmas Party-Hunter announced the following important dates for the party:
  • 11/19-he will have the children’s names with wish list.
  • 11/21-Toy shopping at Walmart at 7:00 AM
  • 12/9-Take toys to Christiansburg High School for wrapping
  • 12/15-Pickup toys at High school and take to St Paul’s Church for the party
• Service Awards-President Davidson recognized Morris Witten for 65 years of Kiwanis service and Bruce Board for 30 years of Kiwanis service. Both were presented with an appropriate plaque.
• The Gavel-President Davidson announced the gavel he is using was loaned to him from member Jim Earp.  The gavel was presented to Earp’s father, Buddy Earp when he was club president from 1965-1966.  Davidson went on to state it is an honor to be using the gavel.
• Next park meeting on 10/15 (not next week)-Will Shelburne from the NRV Regional Commission will be the guest speaker, and will be at the park at 5:30 for a walk around tour explaining the Crab Creek Beautification project.  Additionally, the Fire Department will be doing the cooking.
• Board Meeting-President Davidson announced the next Board Meeting will be on 10/22…please pan to attend.
• Speakers and Events (Please share suggested guest speakers with Bruce Board for scheduling.)
• 10/15/26- Will Shelburne – NRV Regional Commission – Crab Creek Beautification 
• 12/15/26-Annual Children’s Christmas Party at St Paul’s Church.
