Approval of Previous Minutes
The minutes of the July 16, 2026, meeting were submitted for approval.
- Motion: Charlton
- Second: G. Morris
- The motion passed unanimously.
- Program- President Perry introduced Joseph Collins of the WWII Museum of the NRV. Joe explained why he quit his job and started a 501-C3 nonprofit museum. It all started with his son’s history class and a field trip. He spent many years in the USMC and Army Airborne. The museum isn’t a promotion of war or a downplay of other wars. The museum exists as his grandfathers served honorably and he was intrigued with the Greatest Generation. His goal was to have a museum to educate our youth and expose them to the virtues and heroism demonstrated during WWII. The museum opened in November 2025 and had over 400 school children visit. Joe is a jumper with the WWII airborne demonstration team and jumps in honor of a WWII veteran. Every exhibit in the museum is interactive with sites and sounds. Every item in the museum has a story that needs to be told. The museum is located at 1531 N. Main St, Blacksburg where the old Aztec rental used to be and next to Village Groomers and up from Food Lion. Joe can find information on your veteran if you have a full name and/or service number. Great Q&A followed. The museum is open Thursday-Friday 0900-1400 (9am-2pm) and Saturday 0900-1600 (9am-4pm). See business card below.
