Call to Order

President Perry called the meeting to order. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a blessing led by Charlton.

Approval of Previous Minutes

The minutes of the September 3, 2026, meeting were submitted for approval.

• Committee Reports and Floor Comments

• Montgomery Museum of Art and History Heritage Day-President Perry read a thank you note from event coordinator Lori Jones thanking the club for the help with the MMAH Heritage Day event.
• 9/11-President Perry reminded everyone Friday is the 25th anniversary of the attack and to always remember the many victims and volunteers who lost their lives.
• KWTF-Wade is circulating a sign-up sheet and is asking for all hands to help.  Definitely need help early for setup and end of day for closing.  Please plan to attend and help.
• Christmas Party-Hunter announced that the church is reserved and the party will be on December 15, 2026. Following discussion, Hunter made motion to reschedule the party from 9/17 to 9/15. Sutphin seconded with vote taken and unanimously approved.
• Rockin Uptown event this Saturday-President Perry announced they may have to move the event indoors to rec center due to possibility of rain.  Austin would like to use our stage and will decide by 9am Friday morning in coordination with Wade for logistics. Discussion followed regarding logistics of preparing and setting up for the club beverage sales. EDITORIAL COMMENT: After the meeting, the Rec Department confirmed the event will remain outside with no need for our stage.
• Div 16 Lt Gov-Div 16 At-Large Lt Gov Dennis Baugh will host an introductory meeting at Wytheville Community College on Oct 10, 2026.  The meeting is open to all clubs in Div 16 to learn more about the way ahead for Kiwanis Div 16.  President Elect Davidson plans to attend and encourages others to as well.  Additional details to follow. NOTE: Davidson will be President effective 1 Oct 2026, and Perry will become Past President.
• Awards and New Officer Induction-Perry briefed the awards will be presented and new officers will be introduced at the park next week.
• Meeting on 10/29 -Cox briefed on reschedule of our meeting room. Motion was made to move the meeting to the park. Davidson moved we move the meeting to the park and Fite Seconded.  Motion passed unanimously.
• Facebook-A. Glynn noted that she had trouble with the site but couldn’t correct it since she isn’t the administrator.  Wade connected her with the current admin, Carolyn Hall.  They will work together to transfer admin duties to A. Glynn.
• Speakers and Events (Please share suggested guest speakers with Bruce Board for scheduling.)
