Our Weekly Thursday Dinner Meetings
Our most frequent and consistent activity is our Thursday evening dinner meeting (see our Calendar). Each week, members gather for fellowship, a shared meal, and a program that keeps us connected to the needs of our community. Committee members also provide brief updates on their current work, and they bring questions or issues to the full membership when discussion and a decision are needed. Our Board of Directors also meets frequently—often immediately following the regular member meeting—to review action items and keep projects moving forward.
We regularly host guest speakers during our dinners—most often representatives from organizations that need our assistance or individuals sharing information about initiatives, challenges, and opportunities within the Christiansburg community. These evenings help guide our service priorities and strengthen our partnerships.
We frequently arrange visits to other Kiwanis clubs in our region to learn how they operate, build connections among members, and gather fresh ideas for fundraising and service projects. Many of our members also expand their networks and strengthen their leadership skills by attending regional Kiwanis conferences.
Planning to visit? Please check our calendar for the latest meeting details, including location, time, and the scheduled program or guest speaker.
Fundraising Activities
The Wilderness Trail Festival – Our Biggest Fundraiser
The Kiwanis Wilderness Trail Festival is Christiansburg’s premier annual tradition, transforming downtown into a vibrant celebration every third Saturday in September. Since 1973, it has grown into the town’s largest gathering, featuring 150 vendors, live music, and a children’s area.
CHS Football Programs
Since the 1960s, we have produced the weekly football programs for all Christiansburg High School home games. This project partners with the CHS Cheerleaders, with proceeds shared to support their squad.
Town Event Support
We partner with the Town of Christiansburg for events like the Spring Kickoff Festival and Rockn’ on Main. We manage beverage sales to raise funds for local service initiatives.
Support Us with Kroger Community Rewards
We participate in the Kroger Community Rewards program, which enables the Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg to receive a cash donation based on purchases made by participating shoppers—club members and community supporters alike.
Please designate the Christiansburg Kiwanis Club as your Community Rewards recipient. This does not add any cost to your purchases, but it can make a real difference for children and families in our area.
If you run into any issues, please contact us and we’ll be glad to help.
Service Activities
Kiwanis Park Maintenance
We help keep Kiwanis Park clean, safe, and welcoming through ongoing hands-on maintenance—repairing and painting picnic tables, organizing cleanup days, pruning and light landscaping, and completing other small improvement projects as needs arise.
Food Packages for Children
Before our regular Thursday meetings, Kiwanis members gather at the Head Start facility to hand-pack these bags, ensuring 60 local children stay fed and healthy until they return to the classroom on Monday.
The Great Christiansburg Easter Egg Hunt (Ages 12 & Under)

Montgomery Museum
Many of our members volunteer at the annual Montgomery Museum of Art and History Heritage Days festival, driving hay rides and providing essential logistical support.
Year-Round Volunteer Service
Beyond our major events, members regularly volunteer time throughout the year to support local partners and youth-focused initiatives—helping us stay responsive to needs as they emerge.
Our 100% Promise
Every dollar raised through fundraisers and donations goes directly to serving our community.
These funds are funneled back into the local community, primarily supporting youth programs. Our club administrative costs and meals are paid for by our members’ personal dues. For more information see Our Annual Reports.
Request Funding
We welcome requests from local organizations and initiatives that support children and strengthen our community. If your organization believes it aligns with the mission of the Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg, you may submit a request for consideration using our online application.
Prefer to talk first? Please use our Contact Us page and we’ll route your question to the right club members.
