Call to Order
President Perry called the meeting to order. The session began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a prayer led by Charlton.
Approval of Previous Minutes
The minutes from the March 26, 2026 meeting were presented for approval.

Program
Membership Roundup:
Wade welcomed the 3 guests and invited their sponsors to introduce them:
- Steve Schendel: Introduced by Lilly, Steve recently retired and now drives a school bus. He had visited us a couple of weeks ago.
- Warren Taylor: Introduced by Lauer (who could not attend). Warren has visited us before and has lived in Christiansburg for 3 years. He is a materials engineer and holds dual citizenship with the UK.
- Danny Lucas: Introduced by Davidson. Danny grew up in Blacksburg and, although retired, still enjoys working at Iron Tree.
After the introductions, Simmons presented a PowerPoint overview of the club’s activities and the mission of Kiwanis. Board shared his personal reflections on how Kiwanis played a significant role in his youthful sporting experiences. Lewit then discussed his personal Kiwanis journey and how the networking opportunities through Kiwanis have had a positive impact both personally and professionally.
Committee Reports and Floor Comments
- Easter Egg Hunt – Saturday, April 4, 2026:
Cox provided details for the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt. Volunteers should report to Kiwanis Park between 7:30–8:00 AM. Cox has purchased 4 tablets (2 for older children and 2 for special needs) and 6 bikes with helmets. The goal is to hide 18,000 eggs across the fields, with the event running from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. All are encouraged to wear blue shirts and hats. - Backpack Program:
No backpacks will be distributed this week due to Spring Break.

Please share any suggestions for guest speakers with the Board for future scheduling.
