The Kiwanis Club of Christiansburg met on March 12 with 33 members in attendance, along with three guests, including featured speaker Dr. Kim Eagle, Christiansburg Town Manager.
Opening and Business
President Perry called the meeting to order. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an opening prayer led by Vanhoozier.
The minutes from the March 5 meeting were approved unanimously following a motion by Knowles and a second by G. Morris.
Program: Dr. Kim Eagle, Town Manager
Mayor Barber introduced Dr. Kim Eagle, who began her role as Christiansburg Town Manager on January 2, 2026.
Dr. Eagle shared insights from her 25 years with the City of Charlotte and her broader experience in local government. She described public service as a calling and emphasized her passion for helping citizens and strengthening communities through effective local governance.
Her leadership philosophy is grounded in focus and perspective: control what you can control, and do not worry about the rest. She noted that leadership, at its core, is about the people one serves, guided by a simple but powerful question:
“How do I show up for all I serve?”
Dr. Eagle described her approach as collaborative and people-centered. She strives to be accessible and genuine, choosing to listen more than speak, mediate rather than act unilaterally, and persuade rather than command.
Looking ahead, she outlined key priorities for Christiansburg, including:
- Developing a strategic plan with Town Council
- Establishing a five-year capital improvement plan
- Proactively preparing for the town’s continued growth
Her remarks were followed by an engaging and thoughtful Q&A session with members.
