The minutes of the July 2, 2026, meeting were submitted for approval.
- Motion: Cox
- Second: Charlton
- The motion passed unanimously.
Program- Wade introduced Sherry Wyatt; Executive Director; Montgomery Museum of Art and History. Sherry stated she has held this position for almost 2 years but has been involved with the museum since 2010. The museum’s mission is presenting art while preserving history. The Montgomery Museum was founded in 1983 in the Historic Pepper House. The museum moved into the former bank building in 2020 with 15,000sq ft. They still own the house at Pepper St and rent that out. The Pepper St gardens are beautiful and well maintained by Master Gardeners. The collection is over 20,000 items which, except for the large items, are all housed in the current location. The lift has been installed and serves all three levels allowing access for folks with needs and meets ADA requirements. Sherry went on to explain Montgomery Co/VA250 and how the county originally stretched all the way to Ohio. The Community Room is currently dedicated to displaying artifacts and information on Montgomery Co. Regarding arts, one of the favorite displays is artwork from the students of Montgomery Co. Over 400 visitors attended the reception for these young artists. Sherry reviewed many events and exhibitions put on by the museum. Membership applications and business cards were provided.
