Committee Reports and Floor Comments
- Big Walker Mtn: Perry announced the Wytheville club is again sponsoring their annual inter-club picnic at Big Walker Mtn on 8/3. We will meet behind the old Baptist Church to carpool. He went on to challenge everyone to climb the tower as he did last year. This is usually a fun event with food and music. Let Keenan know if you plan to attend.
- New Stage: Awaiting instructions for practice build.
- Guest Speaker: Board announced Joseph Collins of the WWII Museum in Blacksburg will be our Guest Speaker next week. Should be an interesting presentation.
- Rec Center Events: Simmons announced TRIAD (whatever that is) is sponsoring a lunch for seniors soon and asked if we want to donate to it. Not much is known about TRIAD and perhaps they want to come to talk to the club.
- 9/12 Rocking on Main at Uptown Mall: Simoons noted this event is the same day as VT/ODU football game. The band usually draws a good crowd so this should be a good money maker for us. This will be our last event of the year.
- Football Programs: Simons presented a check for $2,000 to the cheerleaders last week. They were quite appreciative.
- Training: Keenan said there will be a training session on membership on 10/10 at Wytheville from 10-2.
- Montgomery Museum of Art and History (MMAH): Wade reminded everyone of Sherry’s presentation last week and to please return your membership application as the museum really needs the support. Follow this link to join or for additional information: Membership — Montgomery Museum
